When I moved into a new apartment a couple years ago, I decided to get organized! So I went out to the Dollar Tree and bought a bunch of inexpensive little bins and things and organized basically my whole apartment. Here’s how to organize your home on a budget.
I’ll go through a general overview of some of the areas of my home I organized with storage bins and things, including separate blog posts for some of them. 🙂

How to Organize Your Home on a Budget
Here are all the bins and baskets I got. They were just a buck each at the Dollar Tree! Hooray! It was interesting carrying back a very precarious stack of these on the bus though haha. There are also a couple fabric bins. They have them in every color of the rainbow!
If you’d rather buy stuff elsewhere, here’s what I recommend:
Here’s how I organized my desk / work area. I wanted my desk to be as neat and clean as possible, so there’s only a few things on it. A couple candles, a monogram sign with my initial, and a little pink bin with office supplies.
Here’s a close up look of the pink desk organizer with office supplies in it.
Here’s how I organized my closet. You can see the pink and teal bins at the top from the Dollar Store for random things, along with a jewelry hanger on the side for my necklaces, a teal fabric bin for my bag o’ plastic bags, and a white hanging sweater hanger that I use mostly for shoes. There’s also a popup white hamper in the back for laundry.
Why yes, that is a scratching post taped to my wall.

I even organized my side of the fridge! I just used Dollar Store see-through bins here. On the top drawer are snack / lunch kind of things, then there’s a bunch of sauces in the middle, and butter and cheese on the bottom.
I had some little tiny bins so I used one of them to organize my random tea bags like this in the cabinet. 🙂
And finally, I have a very spoiled kitty (a tuxedo cat!) so I used a whole big basket to organize all of the cat toys and treats. The cats don’t even need us humans anymore. They just walk over to the cat basket and pull out a toy and start playing. Seriously.
Good luck with organizing!
