How to Organize Cleaning Supplies

I’ve had a few different setups for living spaces, and in this particular apartment I have a small closet with a washer and dryer where I keep my cleaning supplies and a few other random things.  There isn’t a ton of space so I decided to use the vertical space – my favorite way to get more room for storage 🙂 – and got an over-the-door shoe organizer to organize my cleaning supplies!

The washer and dryer are stacked vertically but they’re still juuuuusssstt short enough that I can stack a few things on top like laundry detergent and still reach them.  I also have some cleaning wipes, vinegar (which is a funny color because there’s also lavender and sage mixed in there for scent), borax (mostly for making slime haha), and my container of plastic bags. Sorry for the messy Tide!

Then the inside of the door is where the real organizing hacks come in. There’s a few inches between the door and the washer / dryer when the door is closed, so there’s just enough room to sneak in a few skinny products stored vertically. 🙂 I have this cute grey over-the-door shoe organizer that I keep everything else in inside the pockets.

I have a small dust pan and brush and a rubber squeegee hanging on the hooks at the top (although the hooks are really just part of hanging the shoe organizer, they stuck out enough that I could hang something on them too!).

In the top pockets I have a few things like these dish washing pads and a couple little brushes for cleaning (and an old toothbrush for cleaning tiny things).

In the middle section I have this leftover snake for cleaning drains, some Swiffer refills, rubber cleaning gloves, and a lint roller.

At the bottom I have one of my reusable “paper towels” which is really just a fancy cloth (the white cloth with green leaves). I got a 2 pack of those and use them in my kitchen to wipe down the counter or tables and then just wash them every so often.

I also have some white vinegar, baking soda, and apple cider vinegar for baking. This little spray bottle was actually the biggest one I could fit in here while still getting the closet door to close in front of the washer and dryer!

At the bottom are even more Swiffer things and some dryer sheets.

Then in this little nook in the side of the closet, I threw some rolls of wrapping paper in the back and my Swiffer because they’re both very skinny and vertical and fit nicely. 🙂 I also have a set of reusable dryer balls that I simply store directly in the dryer so they’re ready to use (I’m moving over from dryer sheets to only reusable dryer balls).

If you have any kind of dedicated space for a washer and dryer or perhaps some kind of linen closet or other small cabinet or closet, just use a little creativity to make the most of your organizing space and store cleaning supplies in a place where they’re both easy to access and all together in one place so you can find what you need.
