The last time I went to Starbucks, I paid $5.43 for a Frappuccino. And I wanted to cry, because five bucks for coffee is a LOT. It’s gotten kind of ridiculous. Here’s how I make fancy coffee drinks at home for cheap.
I set out to create delicious and fancy coffee drinks at home (normally I drink coffee at home anyway, but now I’ll probably limit Starbucks to just special occasions). When I say “fancy,” I mean drinks like those flavored coffees that Starbucks is famous for. Think their white chocolate mocha or pumpkin spice. 🙂 (Not fancy as in French press or steamed milk or any of those shenanigans).
Here’s what I came up with… Target has amazing flavored coffees at great prices. Their Archer Farms brand is the best! They have a huge selection of flavors, and some of my favorites are the Buttery Caramel, Creme Brulee, Vanilla Bean, and all sorts of chocolate flavors. Definitely hit up Target if you like flavors in your coffee.
Next, you have to find a delicious flavored coffee creamer. I am not picky about brands but I do like Coffee Mate and International Delight because they have a TON of flavors. I even found Peppermint Mocha in July so I can make Peppermint Mochas like they have at Starbucks but not pay $4 each. Instead, I only paid $3 for this whole bottle (ok, this might last me a week, but that’s only because I like mostly creamer and a little coffee ;)).
Even with my liberal use of creamer, I’m paying $3 for this Lucerne Salted Caramel creamer (SO delicious!) and a few dollars for the coffee (it’s the big size, so cheaper per ounce because I already know I like this flavor), meaning I’m paying pennies per cup. Pretty sweet deal. This double caramel combination was amazing, too.
What’s your favorite flavor for coffee? 🙂
